How Shelf by JC works
Shelf by JC gives apps built with AI and no code tools a professional public home. Create your profile, add the apps you host elsewhere, and share one portfolio link.
The current workflow
- 1
Create your shelf
Choose a display name or brand name, a unique public handle, a short bio, and an optional website or Work with me link. Account emails are never displayed publicly.
- 2
Add an app
Enter the app name, description, public live URL, builder, category, tags, and a generated or uploaded cover. Shelf by JC lists the app but does not copy or run its code.
- 3
Submit for review
Automated validation handles routine checks. Reviewers focus on exceptions, safety concerns, broken links, and misleading listings.
- 4
Go live and share
Once approved, the app can appear on Explore and the creator's public shelf. Visitors open the live app on the creator's external site.
- 5
Connect with interest
Visitors can save apps, follow creators, share listings, report concerns, and send permission based remix requests.
What Shelf by JC does and does not do
Shelf by JC currently does
- Creates public creator portfolios and app listings
- Opens live apps on the creator's public URL
- Supports uploaded and generated covers
- Supports saves, follows, shares, reports, and remix requests
- Uses review before apps become public
Shelf by JC does not currently do
- Host or execute third party app code
- Copy, clone, or automatically remix an app
- Provide automatic version history or one click restoration
- Guarantee that an external app will always remain online
- Transfer ownership or intellectual property rights
Some app hosts prevent their pages from being embedded on another website. Shelf by JC therefore uses a static cover and a clear Open live app button. The app remains hosted and controlled by its creator.
How remix requests work today
A remix request is a permission and handoff request. It is not an automatic clone. The app owner can accept or decline, add a note, and optionally share a safe public starting point or remix URL. The requester only receives that link when the owner chooses to provide it. Shelf by JC does not copy code or create a new app automatically.
Exploring next
Shelf by JC is starting with the simplest useful layer: creator identity, professional app portfolios, discovery, and safe links to live apps. Beta feedback will determine what comes next. The stages below are direction, not a promise or a delivery timeline.
Now: Portfolio and discovery
Public creator shelves, app listings, covers, categories, saves, follows, sharing, moderation, reports, remix requests, and beta analytics.
Possible next steps
Creator analytics, easier imports from popular AI builders, richer preview capture, better collaboration handoffs, and optional portfolio customization.
Longer term exploration
Plain English versions, deeper builder integrations, portable remixing, and automatic attribution. These should only be developed if creators demonstrate demand and the security model is sound.
Your work stays yours
Shelf by JC is a portfolio and discovery layer, not an app host or code repository. We store the profile and listing information you choose to submit, including your app description, category, cover image, and public live app URL. We do not copy, import, or execute your app's source code.
Your app stays where you host it. Shelf by JC displays your listing and sends visitors to your live URL. We never copy or run your code.
- App ownership
- Creators retain ownership of their apps and code. Listing an app gives Shelf by JC only the limited permission needed to display the submitted profile, listing information, and cover while the content remains on the service.
- No code copying
- Shelf by JC stores the public URL and listing content. It does not download, clone, copy, or host the creator's source code. Opening the app sends the visitor to the creator's externally hosted site.
- Submitted content
- Creators must own or have permission to use submitted cover images, names, descriptions, links, and other listing material.
- Remix requests
- A request does not grant permission to copy anything. The app owner decides whether to accept, decline, or provide a public starting point. Any permission or licence terms must come from the owner.
- Public profile information
- A display name or brand name, handle, bio, location, public website, Work with me link, live listings, and selected covers may be public.
- Private information
- Account emails, Founding Creator responses, reviewer notes, category suggestions, moderation information, and nonpublic listings stay restricted to the appropriate owner and authorized reviewers.
- Beta analytics
- Shelf by JC records basic product events needed to evaluate the beta, including account and profile progress, submissions, approvals, listing views, live app opens, saves, follows, shares, reports, and remix responses.
- Listing removal
- Creators can withdraw, unpublish, remove, restore for review, or permanently delete their listings. Permanent deletion removes the listing, its cover file, and related saves, reports, and remix requests. Beta analytics event records and moderation audit history are kept without the listing content, because they are needed for safety and product review.
- External apps
- Live apps are operated by their creators on external services. Review the external app's own privacy terms before entering personal information there. Shelf by JC does not control an external app's security or data practices.
- Reports and safety
- Visitors can report a listing. Reviewers may hide or remove listings that are broken, misleading, unsafe, unauthorized, or inappropriate for the beta.
