Beta Privacy Notice

Effective date: September 9, 2026

Shelf by JC is an early beta run by an individual founder. This notice describes what the product actually stores today. It will be updated as the product changes.

Who operates the service

Shelf by JC is operated by Jacklyn Collins. For any privacy question or request, email jacklyn@jacklyncollins.com. This is the only public contact address for the service. Creator account emails are never published.

Account information

When you create an account you provide an email address, and either a password or a Google sign in. The email address and sign in details are held by the authentication service that powers the product. Your account email is used to sign you in, to recover access, for moderation and security matters, and for necessary service messages about your account or listings. It is not shown on your public shelf, on any listing, or to other creators.

Three separate kinds of email

Account email is described above. It is essential to running the service, so it is not something you opt in to or out of while you hold an account.

Founding Creator follow up is separate and optional. It happens only if you fill in the Founding Creator card, and it relates to that research response.

General marketing email is separate again and optional. It covers occasional Shelf by JC updates, creator opportunities, and beta news, and it requires a distinct positive opt in. Creating an account, finishing your profile, or publishing an app never signs you up for it. It is not required to use Shelf by JC, and existing accounts were not added to it.

Marketing consent records

If you tick the optional marketing box during onboarding or in profile settings, we store a private record holding your account identifier, the email address you authorised at that moment, whether you are currently subscribed or unsubscribed, the time you opted in, whether you opted in during onboarding or in profile settings, which version of the consent wording you saw, and the time consent was withdrawn if it was. The sender would be Shelf by JC, operated by Jacklyn Collins.

You can withdraw consent at any time in the Email preferences section of profile settings. Withdrawal takes effect immediately, and the private record is kept so we can show what was agreed and when it changed. If your account email changes, marketing consent is switched off rather than moved to the new address, so you would need to tick the box again to confirm it. Your preference and the email address in that record are visible only to you and to the founder. They never appear on public profiles, shelves, listings, analytics, or public addresses.

Shelf by JC does not send marketing email at present. This beta collects and manages consent only.

Profile information you choose to publish

Your display name or brand name, public handle, bio, optional location, optional website, optional Work with me link, and avatar colour are public. Only submit profile content you are comfortable publishing. You can edit or clear these fields at any time in profile settings.

Listing information

For each app you submit we store the name, description, public live URL, builder or platform, category, optional category suggestion, tags, and cover choice. Uploaded cover images are stored in a private storage area and served publicly only for approved listings. Approved listings are public. Listings that are in review, rejected, withdrawn, unpublished, or hidden are visible only to you and to authorized reviewers.

We do not download, clone, copy, or execute your app's source code. Only the public URL and the listing content you submit are stored.

Engagement information

When you save an app, follow a creator, report a listing, or send or answer a remix request, we store that action together with your account identifier and the time. Saves and follows are used for your own dashboard and for aggregate counts. They are not published as lists of individual people. Report text and reviewer notes are visible only to you and to authorized reviewers.

Moderation information

Reviewer decisions, decision notes, decision times, and moderation history are stored so that review remains accountable and so that repeated problems can be seen. This information is restricted to the listing owner where relevant and to authorized reviewers.

Founding Creator responses

If you fill in the Founding Creator card, we store your answers about interest, pricing feedback, and the features you would want. This is product research. It creates no payment, preorder, subscription, or public badge. Your answers are private to you and to the founder, and follow up uses the verified email on your account rather than any address shown publicly.

Beta product analytics

We record basic product events so we can tell whether the beta is useful: account creation, profile completion, submissions and resubmissions, review approvals and rejections, listing views, live app opens, saves, follows, shares, reports, remix requests and responses, and reviewer actions. Events include the event name, the time, the related listing or profile identifier, and, when you are signed in, your account identifier. Event details are limited to non sensitive fields. Account emails, report text, reviewer notes, and Founding Creator answers are not placed in analytics events. Analytics are visible only to authorized reviewers, not to the public.

Technical information

Like any website, requests to the service and to its hosting, authentication, database, and storage providers are processed by those providers in order to deliver the page you asked for. We do not run advertising networks or third party marketing trackers on the site.

External apps and links

Every listing links to an app hosted somewhere else by its creator. When you open a live app you leave Shelf by JC. That external app has its own owner, terms, security, and privacy practices, and we do not control them. Review them before entering personal information into an external app.

What is public and what is private

Public: your display name or brand name, handle, bio, optional location, optional website and Work with me link, and your approved listings with their covers, categories, tags, and live links.

Private: your account email, your saved apps, your Founding Creator answers, your category suggestions, report text, reviewer notes, moderation detail, analytics, and any listing that is not approved.

Editing and removing your content

You can edit your profile at any time, and you can withdraw a listing in review, unpublish a live listing, remove a rejected listing, send a listing back for review, or permanently delete a listing. Permanent deletion removes the listing, its uploaded cover file, and the saves, reports, and remix requests attached to it.

Beta analytics event records and moderation history are kept after deletion, without the listing content, so that safety history and product measurement remain intact. We therefore do not promise complete erasure of every record.

Access, correction, and deletion requests

To ask what is stored about you, to correct something, or to request deletion of your account and content, email jacklyn@jacklyncollins.com. Requests are handled by the founder directly. Because this is an early beta run by one person, please allow a reasonable amount of time for a reply.

Beta notice

This is a beta service. Features, storage, and this notice may change. If a change materially affects how your information is used, the effective date above will change. Continued use after an update means the updated notice applies. See also the Beta Terms of Use and How it works.
